Foot bath for RSD Headache

Lately when my RSD headache kicks in, I grab my footbath (i just have a Dr. Scholls one from Rite Aid), fill it with as warm or hot water as i can handle with about a half a cup of Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar. I then soak my feet for at least 20 minutes. The water brings the energy and focus away from my head and, for me, I feel the effects last through the day. Supposedly there are also detox benefits with this through the feet. My gut feeling is that is happening because I feel so good after that when I soak them even without RSD headache.

I now associate the smell of vinegar with feet. ūüôā My feet are definitely sensitive from RSD but at times less so and I can handle warmer to hot water. I just feel it out for what’s working for me that day.

Antibiotic Resistance

When my body first adjusted to being without pain meds, my immune system went through some chaos. I caught everything. I assume much of it had to do with the dramatic change in my gut health.¬† I now (knock on wood) have a better immune system.¬† I think RSDers often are more prone to picking up things. Here’s a blog about preventing antibiotic resistance.¬† I also have my little tricks…

If I feel i am coming down with something, I turn to Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar (internally) and/or Thieves Oil (topically).  I think keeping my gut health as a priority has helped me stay healthy most of the time.

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar for RSD

I was introduced to the benefits of raw apple cider vinegar (“ACV”) by my qi gong healer a few years ago. It took me a while to agree to drink it. It’s freaking gross. BUT, the benefits have been so amazing that I now always have some in the house. Remember to dilute it and rinse your mouth after (do NOT brush your teeth right away). While it goes in super acidic, it actually makes the body more alkaline.¬† It has worked so well for me before, at one point it completely turned off the burning in my legs. The only issue was, at that point, I had to stop drinking it because my body no longer accepted the ACV presumably because I started to affect my body’s PH too much. So it is something I do not use all the time but I think many people do a few tablespoons daily without issue. Frankly, i think I got greedy and drank too much of it once I saw how much it helped the burning in my legs.

Currently I am trying to drink it every day in order to help me lower the acidity in my body and hopefully help me lose this extra weight.¬† Additionally, i have started using it in some of my epsom salt baths. My skin feels amazingly clean after.¬† The ACV is supposed to draw toxins out. Remember to drink RAW apple cider vinegar “with the mother” which is the cloudy good stuff in the bottle. Bragg’s really is the only good brand i have found. I am super proud that i once beat the stomach flu that took out my entire office for days and i cut a sinus infection in half using this stuff. It’s legit. Here are some of the amazing things it is believed to do:

1.  Helps to clear acne
2.  Promotes digestion as the acetic acid content slows down the digestion of starch which can lower the rise in glucose that commonly occurs after meals.
3.  Natural cure for constipation by improving bowel irregularity and removing toxins from the body at a faster rate
4. ¬†High in minerals and potassium to help slow down the ageing process of your skin ‚Äď potassium also protects your teeth, prevents hair loss and stops those runny noses
5.  Helps to reduce sinus infections and sore throats
6.  Encourages the growth of healthy bacteria within your body
7.  Eases menstrual cramps
8.  The pectin content helps regulate blood pressure while reducing bad cholesterol
9.  Protects against food poisoning
10. Fights allergies in both humans and animals
11. Prevents muscle fatigue after exercise
12. Strengthens the immune system
13. Increases stamina
14. Alleviates symptoms of arthritis and gout
15. Prevents bladder stones and urinary tract infections
16. The malic acid content introduces those important anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties
17. The calcium content helps to improve bone and teeth health
18. The ash for alkaline content helps your body maintain correct pH levels for a healthy alkaline state
19. Provides a natural remedy for heartburn, acting as a replacement for those toxic heartburn medications
20. Helps clear up skin conditions and blemishes giving a smoother texture and complexion
21. Raw apple cider vinegar may also help with joint pain and stiffness
22. Helps to break down fats so that your body can use them rather than store them and can also help to reduce levels of glucose

Remember, I am NOT a doctor. This is just something that has worked for me. Do your own research and ask your doctor.

Putting the fire out

A few things have helped me when the burning pain got to be too much: a shot of Toradol or a few days of diluted raw apple cider vinegar have shown the quickest change.¬† I think the ACV has actually worked better and i’ve felt close to remission this way. It just tastes like garbage and you really can’t drink it in those amounts for very long without making yourself sick (you can change the PH too much in your body).¬† Anyone have any other secrets for this pain?

I think this rainy weather or my detox has me thinking ACV today. I would do something cooling but my acupuncturist says I am cold in the inside (i know, dead on after the last post) and that the heat is in my skin (where the small nerves are). So doing anything too cooling can backfire on me on a cool day. I’m already treating the mechanism (the inflammatory response) with fish oil, turmeric, magnesium etc. but i feel it’s time to treat the symptom when i start feeling like this.
